Shaped Painted Glass

This piece was an individual commission to produce a gift for a Butterfly Enthusiast with a design inspired by the Purple Emperor Butterfly. The image on the piece was formed from glass powders and paints fused to individual sheets of glass. These sheets were then fused together into a single heavy sheet of glass with the components of the image now trapped across 3 levels in the single piece of glass, giving great depth to the image. It was then formed into plate, but it could just have easily been a bowl or self standing item.

Such pieces can cover almost any subject, or even be abstract, the technique allows great freedom, a little like mixed media painting.

Prices would usually be in the range of £200-£250, varying principally with the amount of work needed to create and execute the design.
